Apple Watch Series 10 and Ultra 3: Anticipated Features and Launch Dates

Exciting Launch Just Weeks Away

After over a year of rumors, the Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 are set to launch in just a matter of weeks. With 10 rumored changes and improvements, here’s everything we’re expecting from the new models.

Expected Changes in Apple Watch Series 10

New Processor

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, both the Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 will feature a new processor succeeding last year’s S9 chip. While this could lay the groundwork for future AI enhancements, it will not run Apple Intelligence and no plans currently exist to bring the full initiative to the Apple Watch.

Health Features in Development

Apple has been working on hypertension and sleep apnea detection features for the Apple Watch, initially slated for a 2024 release. However, these efforts have encountered significant challenges. The hypertension detection feature has proven insufficiently reliable during testing, potentially postponing its release.

Similarly, the sleep apnea detection feature, which relies on blood oxygen saturation, is facing hurdles. Due to an ongoing legal dispute with Masimo, Apple Watches in the United States cannot currently measure blood oxygen levels. The company may resolve this dispute soon or find alternative solutions.

Design and Other Improvements

Rumors about a thinner design for the Apple Watch Series 10 are also in question. While the Series 9 was a minor upgrade over the Series 8, the Series 10 might introduce new health features and larger display size options. However, current Series 9 users may find little reason to upgrade.

Launch Details

The Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 are expected to be announced at Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event on Monday, September 9. Pre-orders are likely to open on Friday, September 13, with the official launch following one week later on Friday, September 20.
