Honor Magic V3: A Slim Foldable Phone Launches in Europe

Honor is releasing its Magic V3 foldable in Europe following its debut in China earlier this summer. The V3’s headline feature is its incredibly slim profile, which stands out in a category typically filled with thick, bulky devices. Unfortunately, like many other interesting foldable phones, it won’t be sold in the US.

Incredibly Slim Design

When folded, the Magic V3 measures just 9.2mm thick. This is only slightly more than a traditional slab phone like the Galaxy S24 Ultra (8.6mm) or an iPhone 15 Pro (8.3mm). It’s also significantly thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is 12.1mm when folded, and even thinner than the 10.5mm Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Impressive Specifications

The Magic V3 offers a sizable 6.43-inch outer screen and a 7.92-inch inner screen. It boasts a massive 5,150mAh battery capacity and supports fast charging up to 66W wired and 50W wireless. The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto, and a 40-megapixel ultrawide, covering all the essentials you’d expect in a high-end Android phone.

Pricing and Market Impact

The Magic V3 starts at £1,699 in the UK. Although it won’t be available in the US, the foldable market is becoming increasingly interesting. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold shows significant improvements over its predecessors, and OnePlus recently launched its stylish red Open foldable. This growing competition might push Samsung to innovate further in the foldable phone market.
