Google recently started allowing users to leverage its Gemini AI chatbot to ask questions about their Gmail inbox on the web. Now, this functionality is extending to mobile devices. The company has announced that the Gmail Q&A feature is beginning to roll out on Android and will be “coming soon” to iOS.

What is Gmail Q&A?

Using Gmail Q&A, users can ask Gemini questions about their inbox or perform tasks such as finding specific details in emails, displaying unread messages, viewing messages from a particular sender, or summarizing emails about a particular topic, as outlined in Google’s blog post. Google first previewed this feature earlier this year at its I/O conference.

Potential Uses

Gmail Q&A could be an incredibly useful tool for managing your email, especially for locating information that may be buried deep within your inbox. However, it’s important to note that the feature isn’t available to all users. To access Gmail Q&A, you must subscribe to Google One AI Premium or be on a Google Workspace plan with the Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, or Education Premium add-ons.

As with many generative AI tools, users should always double-check to make sure that Gemini doesn’t generate inaccurate information.

Availability

The rollout of Gmail Q&A began on Thursday, and Google indicates it could take up to 15 days for the feature to become available to all users.
